Place pears halves, cut side down, into hot (preferably iron) skillet
2 Allow to cook until cooking side starts looking brown
3 Add butter, and as it melts coat the bottom of the pear in it
4 Sprinkle ginger and sugar into the remaining butter and brush the tops of the pears
5 Place in oven at 375 (f) and cook until tender (about 15 minutes)
